Political relevance of location
Lateritic soil from Wagadugu, Burkina Faso. The location was used for a field experiment with phosphate fertilizer. The aim of the experiment was to find out whether the phosphate could be used in Burkina Faso to stabilize the crop yields. The influence of the phosphate fertilizer on yields showed a high anual variability. In Burkina Faso the source material of the soil are Precambrian granite, shists and quarzits. The remaining soils are of low natural fertility.
