Historical relevance of location
Pink and white baryte from the active baryte mine at Dreislar near Korbach. The mine is one of the few leftover mines in Germany which produce baryte. The mine is known worldwide as a location for marvellous collector\'s specimens of chalcopyrite on baryte crystals. The mined baryte is technically used for many purposes, e.g. the concrete of nuclear power plants, as heavy substance in drilling mud, in the paper and paint industry.
